Workshops for Parents

The Parent Information Center (PIC) offers a variety of workshops aimed at helping parents support their children's education. Whether you would like guidance and support around homework, reading, math, communication, working with teachers, or other topics, PIC probably has the workshop for you. Best of all, workshops are FREE!

General Education Workshops

These workshops are offered undered the NH State PIRC (Parent Information and Recource Center) program at PIC. Workshops are typically sponsored by schools, PTAs, parent groups, or community organizations. Special Education Workshops

Parents are an important member of the Special Education team that develops their children's Individual Education Plan (IEP).To learn more about the special education process and how you can be involved, please check out the following workshops, offered by the Parent Information Center on Special Education program:

Parent Leadership Training

This workshop series is presented in 3 separate strands of typically 6 sessions (or longer weekend sessions). Eeach strand can be taken individually, with options for choosing from a variety of different workshops depending on the needs of your group:

  • The Family Leadership Series promotes skills for communication, literacy, understanding No Child Left Behind, and supporting children’s learning at home.

  • The School/Community Leadership Series provides information and training for developing effective partnerships with schools and working with parent-teacher organizations and school improvement efforts.

  • The Train-the-Trainer workshops provide training and support to parents and community leaders who wish to deliver workshops on a variety of topics in their school community. See also Literacy Volunteers.
