PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN EDUCATION MONTH, OCTOBER 2011
WHEREAS, The children of New Hampshire are our most valuable resources
and are the key to our state’s future economic and social well-being; and
WHEREAS, Education undergirds and sustains our democratic society, and
affords each child, including those with disabilities, the opportunity to attain his or
her highest level of achievement; and
WHEREAS, Parents are children’s first and most influential teachers and have
high hopes and dreams for their children’s future; and
WHEREAS, The most accurate predictor of student achievement in school is
the extent to which their families are able to create a home environment that
encourages learning and become involved in their children’s education in both
school and the community; and
WHEREAS, New Hampshire schools are committed to personalizing education through the Follow the Child
Initiative and establishing comprehensive support systems needed for each student’s success, including family-
school-community partnerships; and
WHEREAS, The importance of parent involvement in education requires not
only recognition, but a firm commitment in our policies and frameworks;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH GOVERNOR of the state of New
Hampshire, do hereby proclaim the month of OCTOBER 2011 as PARENT
INVOLVEMENT IN EDUCATION MONTH in New Hampshire, and urge all
citizens to recognize and encourage parents for their involvement and
commitment to educating children.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Concord, this 4th day of August, in the
year of Our Lord two thousand and eleven, and the independence of the United
States of America, two hundred and thirty-six.
